报告题目:Mathematical aspects of topologically protected wave motion
报告摘要:
In the past decade, a revolution in materials science has been brought about by the recognition of topology in characterizing the physical properties. These materials which support nontrivial topological edge states are termed as topological materials. In this talk I will give an introduction on the recent advances in topological materials and then introduce our recent analysis results on topological photonic materials. More specifically, I will first show the existence of conically singular points in the spectrum of the associated propagation operator which is the hallmark of topological materials. Then I present the derivation and justification of the effective dynamics from the Maxwell's equations with a multi-scale material weight. With the effective equation, we demonstrate the existence of topologically protected edge states and their chiral motions.

朱毅教授,清华大学丘成桐数学科学中心长聘副教授,先后在清华大学获得学士和博士学位,主要从事问题驱动的交叉性应用数学研究,近年来,主要研究拓扑材料的数学理论与计算方法,在SIAM系列、Arch. Rational Mech. Ana.、J. Comp. Phys.、Comput. Methods Appl. Mech. Engrg.、Phys. Rev. Lett.、Nature Commun.等发表论文四十多篇,主持国家自然科学基金两项,目前担任 Studies in Applied Mathematics 编委。
